Classic Sports Bra – Road Tested!

I treated myself to a Classic Shock Absorber Impact Level 3 bra today.

Moisture wicking

Now Only £18.00The moisture wicking fabric was a definite plus point in Curves Gym in Stamford as it gets pretty hot in there.

The support was fantastic -  nothing budged during my work out, even during star jumps.  I’d recommend this bra for anyone doing any form of exercise up to cup D, above this consider the type of exercise you are doing: it would be fine for low impact aerobics, line dancing, in line skating or going for a jog with the dog! If you are a serious runner with a large cup size then you’d need to be looking for an impact level 4 bra, of which there are plenty on the website.

Good structure for comfortable exercise

The wide band stayed flat and showed absolutely no tendency to roll up – unlike the waistband of my jogging bottoms! The sides are high which takes a bit of getting used to but this is the structure that puts your bust where it should be. In fact a lot of Harwayes customers use this as an everyday comfortable fitting bra as it has no wires.

Breast Cancer Care

For Breast Cancer Awareness Week on Monday 12 October, Harwayes are teaming up with Curves Gym in Stamford, Lincolnshire for a bra fitting day! A percentage of profits made on the day will go to Breast Cancer Care. Watch this space for more news about this event.

Sports bras for Dog Shows

I have a customer who is a member of the Rottweiler Club UK  who says sports bras are a must. She said: ‘I go to these events regularly and you do see some sights! If you show a larger breed of dog you can end up running around the ring with him 15 or 20 times. There are a surprising number of larger sized ladies in the competitions. I feel certain they would appreciate some advice on sports bras.’

Sports bras for larger cup sizes

I had a customer today who needed a sports bra for size 38G. Not difficult you may think, but she also wanted a V front so that it wouldn’t show beneath low cut t-shirts. Have you noticed that all the manufacturers who design for larger sizes have gone for a crop top style front? I also have a friend who wears TWO sports bras to go running, only a 36D but she reckons none give her enough support – I’m going to send her a new Shock Absorber running bra to try out – look out for the feedback here. ‘A Good Sports Bra is as Important as a Good Pair of Trainers’ Curves Owner, Rosie Hargreaves, Stamford, Lincs, UK

Research has shown that 75% of women who exercise regularly don’t wear a specialist sports bra. Modern sports bras cater for all shapes and sizes, from UK 28 – 40 (European 60 – 90cm) up to HH cup. New style bras encapsulate rather than compressing the breast, making the bra more comfortable to wear and giving a better shape than the old style ‘compression’ bras. Wide straps are cushioned to reduce shoulder grooves many large busted women experience, and modern fabrics such as CoolMax by Dupont and Lycra make the bras cool and comfortable to wear during exercise.
